Mass-spectrometric exposomics assays

Mass-spectrometric exposomics assays

We are offering state-of-the art assays to study the exposome in plasma/serum and other sample types. We are developing our assays further, and plan to launch in the future also new assays (see under development). Below you see our current assays that we offer now or will be able to offer:

Assays Coverage

Global untargeted (RPLC-qTOFMS & HILIC-qTOFMS)

Polar and medium polar metabolites covering carbon/energy metabolism, protein metabolism, gut metabolites, polar lipids, di/tri-peptides, exposure markers such as food, drugs, pollutants, and more (>2500 small molecules)

GC-MS

GC-Orbitrap for untargeted analysis of semi-volatile environmental chemicals including pesticides, flame retardants, PCBs.

Lipidomics (HILIC-MS/MS)

Medium and apolar lipids; >1500 lipids covering >27 lipid classes

Signaling & bioactive lipids (RPLC-MS/MS)

Oxyplins, isoprostanes, eicosanoids etc informing about inflammation and immune response (>300 bioactive lipids)

Biogenic amines (RPLC-MS/MS)

Biogenic amines after derivatization incl. polyamines, amino acids, vascular stress markers, tryptophane pathway (>80 biogenic amines)

Other targeted metabolomics platforms

CoA esters, acylcarnitines, bile acids

Tracer-based metabolomics (HILIC-qTOFMS/MS)

> 200 metabolites using Zeno MS/MS to determine mass isotopologue distribution (MID) of intact metabolites and fragmented substructures

Exposome-Scan

Exposome-Scan

The unique and large-scale open facility Exposome-Scan gives researchers from all over the Netherlands the opportunity to study the exposome. Anyone who submits a good research request will have access to the research facility and will be able to conduct research at Exposome-Scan at cost price. The facility in Leiden opens on 15 February 2024 and builds on the knowledge gained in the Exposome-NL and X-omics research programmes.
