Paula behaalde haar masterdiploma in cognitieve en klinische neurowetenschappen aan de Universiteit Maastricht. In april 2026 trad ze als promovendus toe tot de onderzoeksgroep Cardiovasculaire Epidemiologie van het Julius Centrum (UMC Utrecht), onder begeleiding van Ilonca Vaartjes en Erik Timmermans. Haar onderzoek in het kader van het Exposome-NL-project is erop gericht het exposoom te integreren in het risico-trigger-kwetsbaarheidsmodel van ischemische beroerte.
In haar eerste jaar zal Paula de vertegenwoordiger van het UMC Utrecht zijn in de commissie voor jonge onderzoekers binnen Exposome-NL.
