The first Exposome-NL conference, titled 'Exposome and Preventive Health: tackling complexity', took place on Friday 20 May in Utrecht. With almost 200 participants, outstanding talks by Emma Schymanski, Giulia Menichetti, Gary W. Miller and Joreintje Mackenbach, a poster session and a broad set of break-out sessions, we look back on a vibrant and inspiring day.
Congratulations to PhD student Asier Fernández Pato (UMCG), who was awarded the first Exposome-NL poster prize and runners up Thao Lam and Youchen Shen.

The environment we live in has a dominant impact on our health. It explains an estimated seventy percent of the chronic disease burden. Where we live, what we eat, how much we exercise, the air we breathe and whom we associate with; all of these environmental factors play a role.
