Summer School Course: Molecular Epidemiology of the Exposome and Chronic Disease

8 Jul 2024 09.00 - 12 Jul 2024 17.00Utrecht University

In July 2024, Summerschool Utrecht will provide a course to give students an introduction into internal exposome research. There is a specific emphasis on the use of molecular markers to characterize relationships with chronic diseases and exposures to environmental factors.

The target audience for this course are MSc and PhD students with an interest in Exposome research and a background in epidemiology. Students and professionals from outside Utrecht University are welcome. For the computer labs will use the R statistical software. Some experience on working with this software is preferred. Decoding the exposome

Decoding the exposome

The environment we live in has a dominant impact on our health. It explains an estimated seventy percent of the chronic disease burden. Where we live, what we eat, how much we exercise, the air we breathe and whom we associate with; all of these environmental factors play a role.
