Inaugural lecture 'The gut microbiome – a universe inside us'

An inaugural lecture is an occasion of significance in an academic staff member’s career at the university. It offers newly arrived or promoted professors the opportunity to introduce themselves and update colleagues on current and future plans. On the 10th of March, professor Alexandra Zhernakova will give an interesting inaugural lecture on the gut microbiome at the University of Groningen. The lecture will be broadcasted via a livestream, but can also be attended physically.

The environment we live in has a dominant impact on our health. It explains an estimated seventy percent of the chronic disease burden. Where we live, what we eat, how much we exercise, the air we breathe and whom we associate with; all of these environmental factors play a role.
